Young Money Trilogy X League of Legends

The Music

young-money-logoFor this post, I will be writing about one of my favourite hip hop groups, Young Money. There are several Young Money members, but for this post I will be featuring Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj, the most successful artists out of the group.

Young Money was first founded by Lil Wayne as a recording label sub division of the larger recording label, Cash Money Records. Lil Wayne was previously under Cash Money under the guidance of his mentor, Birdman, but then branched off to start his own label. This allowed Lil Wayne to assemble a roster of highly talented artists, and build a hip hop empire. Not including the 3 featured artists of this post, some of the other artists that were signed under Young Money included Omarion, DJ Khaled, Tyga, Mack Maine, Christina Milian, and Lil Twist to name a few.

As I mentioned earlier, the 3 biggest names under Young Money are Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj. The 3 of them were a very tight knit crew, and they constantly collaborated with each other during Young Money’s rise in popularity. It wasn’t until Nicki Minaj and Drake became superstars in their own right, that Young Money really began to take off and gain a reputation of being one of the hottest labels in the game.

Unfortunately, around 2013/2014, drama began surrounding Young Money, in terms of their contract terms with Cash Money Records, beef between Birdman and Lil Wayne, and the notorious beef with Drake & Nicki Minaj’s then boyfriend Meek Mill. All of this caused Young Money to essentially fall apart until early this year, when Mack Maine called Young Money to come back together and reunite, much to the joy of YM fans such as myself. Soon after, Nicki Minaj dropped a track featuring Weezy & Drizzy and the hip hop community blew up. Who knows what this could mean in the future, maybe a Young Money Reunion Tour? Time can only tell, but if that does happen, I’ll be ready to drop however much money to see the Young Money Trilogy in action again.

A man can dream…

The Game

I have a love-hate relationship with League of Legends. For one, it is a highly competitive, fun game and I think I’m pretty decent at it. However, the game eats up time like no tomorrow and sometimes just sucks the life out of you. I used to play the game religiously from 2011 to 2015, playing for hours on end each day. It was bad.

I’m not even exaggerating.

When I think about the literal months that I’ve spent playing this game, it makes me cringe. However, not all of it was bad. LoL is a team game so when all the pieces fall together and everyone plays well, the game gets really exciting and fun for everyone. Unfortunately this doesn’t happen that often. From experience, I’ve encountered many frustrating League players, not based on their skill, but their attitude. These “toxic” players who throw games on purpose and constantly insult the team is what made me stop playing the game. This is not me saying anything negative about the game itself; League is one of the most popular games on the planet, available for free to anyone with a decent computer. I mean, League sells out full stadiums around the world to for people to watch championship games. They HAVE to be doing something right.

I came clean for a year, but recently started to play again here and there for fun. Almost like Young Money’s return, who knows, I might start playing competitively again and enjoy it. We’ll see. In the meantime, here is some recent footage of some League of Legends gameplay.
